Description
The BMW M label. Introduced in the 1970s. The first true M was the 3 series E30 which was developed for the DTM racing class. To participate, BMW had to produce a limited number of them for public roads. Meanwhile, in the right condition and execution, this primal M3 is a collector's item. The rest is history and a great success. Every subsequent 3 series was also developed as an M version. Of the third E46 generation, we currently have a very special example in our Selected Classics collection.
A convertible with matching hardtop, in the very special and beautiful colour phoenix gelb metallic. Deep gloss paint, original 18-inch silver BMW M sport wheels. Black full leather interior with satin grey inserts. Very beautiful and distinctive, but also an eye catcher of the highest order. Virtually no signs of use. Only 90.5 thousand kilometres in 22 years. Completely maintained according to specification demonstrably at the BMW dealer. Accordingly, this fantastic sports car drives very well. The famous S54 six-cylinder line engine runs wonderfully, with its distinctive 6 separate intake ports for unprecedented throttle response and a unique engine sound. Heavy and full at low revs, then from 3500 rpm onwards it slowly changes to a louder pure-sounding sound to end at no less than 7900 rpm (!) in a howl that would not be out of place in a race car. In the process, the perfect running culture of the BMW 6 cylinder remains fully intact. Combined with the very direct and fast-shifting SMG gearbox, a unique and very special powertrain. Add to this the very well-tuned M sport suspension, the still hydraulically assisted, sensitive but not too nervous steering, the perfectly seated M sport seats with an excellent seating position, the excellent build quality and with a, especially for a convertible, rigid body, and you have a BMW that makes every drive an incomparable experience. What an experience.
The car also has a well-stocked option list, especially for its time, including the fantastic 14-way electrically adjustable, leather sports seats with memory function and seat heating, cruise control, climate control, rear parking sensors, Harman Kardon Audio, Xenon lights, windshield, hardtop and so on.
