Description
In the early 1990s, Audi decided to develop a car for the burgeoning market for compact roadsters and coupés. The first-generation TT was launched in 1998. It featured a very attractive design, yet one that was completely different from that of its competitors. This stunning roadster and coupé is now increasingly becoming a sought-after ‘youngtimer’ and is certain to become a classic in the future. The right original examples, with a complete and verifiable history and not too many kilometres on the clock, are becoming increasingly rare and have been rising in value in recent years.
At Selected Classics, the collection must meet exceptionally high quality standards. Yet there are still some standout examples. We currently have a stunning, fully original first-generation TT roadster, from its third owner, in our showroom. If the phrase ‘as new’ applies to any car, it certainly applies to this Audi, which is in a unique, virtually new condition. It is in collector’s condition, though we always hope the car will be used regularly. The stunning, gleaming-as-new, extremely rare dark blue metallic paintwork, combined with the original 16-inch wheels fitted with very good, almost new Michelin tyres. The black leather and velour interior features aluminium trim. Virtually no signs of wear on either the interior or exterior. The convertible top is in very good condition; even the underside looks as good as new. This shows that the car has been treated with great care by its previous owners. This car has never seen rain, let alone winter. Truly a unique and beautiful example. An original Dutch car, with a verifiable mileage of just 91,000 kilometres at the age of 22 years! This is evidenced, amongst other things, by the comprehensive and fully documented service history and the NAP. The car has recently undergone a major service, including the timing belt, water pump and thermostat, four new Michelin tyres, and disc brakes and brake pads all round. Furthermore, the car is fitted with all the relevant options, such as climate control, leather/velour upholstery on the sports seats and door panels, heated seats, an original Grundig car radio from that era, an electrically operated soft top, an electrically operated windscreen and so on.
This first-generation Audi TT roadster drives surprisingly modern and sporty. Everything still feels as good as new.
