Description
In the early 1990s, Audi decided to develop a car for the burgeoning market for compact roadsters and coupés. The first-generation TT was launched in 1998. It featured a stunning design that was completely different from that of its competitors. This stunning sports car is now evolving into a sought-after youngtimer and is certain to become a classic in the future. The right original examples, with a complete, verifiable history and not too many miles on the clock, are becoming increasingly rare and have been rising in value in recent years.
At Selected Classics, the collection must meet exceptionally high quality standards. Yet there are still standout examples. We now have a stunning, fully original first-generation TT coupé, from its second owner, in our showroom. If the phrase ‘as new’ applies to a car, it certainly applies to this Audi, which is in a unique condition. The beautiful, gleaming silver-grey paintwork, combined with the original 17-inch wheels fitted with very good, almost new Vredestein tyres. The black leather interior with aluminium trim. Virtually no signs of wear on either the interior or exterior. Even the underbody looks as good as new. This shows that the car has been treated with great care by its previous two owners. Although we are advocates of regular use of our cars, this is also a car for a collector. A combination of both is, of course, also possible. An original Dutch car, with just 80,000 kilometres on the clock, at the age of 26 years! This is evident, among other things, from the comprehensive and fully documented service history. Major servicing has recently been carried out, including the timing belt, tensioners, water pump, thermostat and all fluids and filters. Furthermore, the car is equipped with all relevant options: climate control, leather upholstery on seats and door panels, heated seats, Xenon lighting, original Audi Concert radio, central locking with remote control, electrically adjustable and heated mirrors, and so on.
This first-generation Audi TT roadster drives surprisingly modern and sporty. Everything still feels tight and new. With its responsive yet comfortable chassis, direct and sensitive steering, the crisp-shifting close-ratio five-speed gearbox and the powerful, smooth and sporty-sounding turbo engine.
